Submission of experiences

92 cities from 18 different countries will share their experiences on Inclusion, Participation and Creativity in the frame of the 13th International Congress of Educating Cities (13-16 November).

150 experiences  will be presented during the Congress. These case studies will be introduced in three modalities: plenary presentations (8 experiences), workshops (88) and speakers’ corner (54). These 92 cities presenting experiences come from 18 different countries: Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Colombia, Finland, France, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Republic of Korea, Republic of South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Uruguay. The final list of experiences selected will be available in the Program day to day

The criteria taken into account for selecting experiences have been:

  1. Experiences that have a direct relationship with the themes of the congress: Inclusion, Participation and Commitment, Innovation and Creativity.
  2. Experiences that can be transferred to other cities.
  3. Specific initiatives will receive a higher rating than general plans.
  4. Innovative experiences.
  5. Experiences representing all areas of local political action.
  6. Preference is given to local government experiences.
  7. Experiences that promote active citizen autonomy will receive a higher rating than those that merely involve assistance.
  8.  Initiatives carried out through participation, collaboration and the involvement of other urban players such as associations, institutions, universities, etc. and citizens, in general, are highly valued.
  9. Experiences that relate individuals and the territory.

Experiences will be presented in one of the 4 official languages of the Congress: English, French, Spanish or Catalan.

Plenary presentations, workshops and speakers’ corner are the three modalities of presentation of experiences. These are the main characteristics:

Plenary presentations:

  • These sessions will take place in the Congress Hall
  • Each experience will have 12 minutes to be introduced. At the end of the workshop there will be an open space for debate
  • Experiences will receive logistical support for their presentation
  • Simultaneous translation will be provided
  • They will be moderated by members of the Scientific Committee of the Congress

Workshops:

  • They will take place simultaneously in different rooms
  • Each experience will have 12 minutes to be introduced. At the end of the workshop there will be an open space for debate
  • Experiences will receive logistical support for their presentation
  • Simultaneous translation will be provided
  • They will be moderated by members of the Scientific Committee of the Congress

Speaker’s corner:

  • They will take place simultaneously in 6 different sites of the exhibition area during coffee breaks
  • Each experience will have 6 minutes to be introduced
  • Experiences will receive logistical support for their presentation
  • They will be introduced in one of the 4 official languages (without simultaneous translation)
  • One facilitator will introduce all speakers before their presentation

 

Non selected experiences clearly linked to the Congress according to the Scientific Committee criteria, will appear in the abstract book (poken technology).
